Dear Parents/Guardians,
This week marks Anti-Bullying Week for the HWCDSB and of course St.Bernadette. It is a time to reflect on our commitment to fostering safe and respectful environments.
As a Catholic school community, we believe that every child is created in the image and likeness of God. Each student has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected within and around their school. Guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, the HWCDSB is dedicated to building inclusive school environments where every individual feels a sense of belonging.
This morning, we watched this video to kick off Anti-Bullying Week. It delivered a powerful message about the importance of change and how each of us can contribute to making our school a kinder, more inclusive place.
Throughout the week, we have several activities planned to highlight the importance of this initiative and to promote kindness, respect, and inclusion within our school community. As part of these activities, Thursday, November 21st, is Pink Shirt Day. We invite all students and staff to wear pink to show their support for anti-bullying efforts and to stand together in solidarity against bullying.
We recognize that bullying causes serious harm, not only to the victim but also to those who bully and bystanders. Left unaddressed, bullying—whether in person or online—can lead to long-term emotional and social challenges. For this reason, bullying, including cyberbullying, is not tolerated in our Catholic school environment, during school-related activities, or on/off school property.
Let us work together to model compassion and respect, ensuring that our schools remain safe havens of faith and learning.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting a positive and inclusive school environment.
Sincerely,
The Admin Team at St. Bernadette.
