Hamilton Public Health Services welcomes young children to receive the COVID-19 vaccine

Ontario is expanding eligibility of the COVID-19 vaccine starting on Thursday, July 28, 2022 to include young children six months to those under five years of age.

Beginning July 28, 2022 at 8am, parents and caregivers in Hamilton will be able to book appointments for their young children to receive a COVID-19 vaccine using the City’s booking tool on www.hamilton.ca/GetYourVaccine.

“We know that many parents and caregivers of young children in Hamilton have been anticipating this day for many months, and we are encouraged to see that there’s such a great interest to get Hamilton’s youngest residents vaccinated against COVID-19,” says Hamilton’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Elizabeth Richardson.

“While most children in this age group have relatively mild disease, some do experience severe illness, particularly those with underlying health conditions. Along with our community partners, we’re pleased to welcome Hamilton families into settings that are tailored especially to their needs.”

Vaccines continue to be offered to individuals aged 5 and over. Anyone wishing to receive a first, second or third dose can access a COVID-19 vaccine on a walk-in basis.

Information about local COVID-19 vaccine clinic locations, hours of operations, and how to book appointments for a first dose for COVID-19 vaccine for six months to those under five years of age or a fourth dose for eligible populations, is available at www.hamilton.ca/GetYourVaccine. Additionally, residents are also encouraged to check with local pharmacies that are offering COVID-19 vaccinations.
